Ventilation and health: the beginning of awareness

Thank you to the interdisciplinary college SEIQA by R Lab, in partnership with ARCAA, for organising the round table on “Ventilation in buildings: design, installation and maintenance”. Many thanks to Dr Fabien SQUINAZI, medical biologist, member of the Commission specialising in environmental risks, member of commissions at the Ministry of Health and member of the scientific committee of the Observatoire national de la Qualité de l’Air.

As we know, ventilation contributes to Indoor Air Quality, a public health issue! The worldwide epidemic of Covid 19 had increased and sparked a sudden public interest in Indoor Air Quality.

Around the table, participants from manufacturers, ventilators and maintenance specialists emphasised the expertise of the players and systems needed to meet these public health challenges. Ventilation and its professions need to be known, valued and taken into consideration.

This reinforces the VMI point of view on the importance of filtration, in particular, to prevent outdoor pollutants and pollen from adding to indoor air pollution. Today, CO2 sensors provide a recognised index of containment. Coupled with ventilation, they provide optimum regulation of air renewal.

The discussions also highlighted the importance of maintaining the installations to guarantee their effectiveness over time.

Thank you to Michèle POTARD, Managing Director of VMI Technologies, Axel BAILLON, Director at Ventéo, Laurent HENRY, Managing Director of Ventil Pur Habitat, Patrick DANSET, Co-Founder of R-Lab and Fabien SQUINAZI, Expert at the Haut Conseil de Santé Publique, for the quality of these discussions!
